Why Was STORM Created?
Breaking Down Barriers
Traditional robotics competitions can require expensive equipment, extensive prior experience, or significant investement with high registration costs. STORM aims to ease the burden by using smaller robots with no registration costs.
Encouraging Creativity
Success should not come from a teams ability to buy expensive parts, but rather from a teams ability to incorporate their creativity into their robots design and interface.
Student-Led Vision
As students ourselves, we understand the challenges that come with competing in robotics. STORM is ran by students and mentored by alumni who have extensive experience in robotics.
Real-World Skills
The ability to control robotics and access different sensors remotely is becoming increasingly common in the industry. A primary goal of STORM is to develop these practical, career-relevant skills.
