Why we built STORM
Most robotics competitions reward the team with the biggest budget. STORM was started by students at the University of Oklahoma to reward creativity, resourcefulness, and clever engineering. Open to anyone 18 or older, no school enrollment is required.
Our mission
STORM exists so that anyone, regardless of funding, lab access, or prior experience can build a competitive tele-operated robot and compete with other teams.
No registration costs, no required hardware, and a new mission every year.

2027
Loose Cannons
A flash flood has swallowed the region and never receded. What was dry land is now open water - and it's full of pirates. Each team builds a teleoperated Robot armed with a cannon, taking aim at the enemy's rudder, hull, and masts. As the match clock runs down, both crews scramble to finish the job and climb aboard the enemy Ship before the currents sweep them away.

Power Flash
Robots must navigate the aftermath of a severe weather event and restore the power grid before heavy rain causes flash flooding.

Hailstorm
Navigate a dangerous hailstorm to collect and analyze weather data, as well as report information about the storm's impact.
2024
Ground Zero
Navigate through the aftermath of severe storms to collect information and assess damage.
